This is an antique Nippon period Japanese porcelain plate that is hand painted with roses and decorated in gold on the cobalt blue rim. The underside of the plate is marked with the green M in wreath Nippon mark of the Morimura Bros., used as of 1911 until about 1918. The plate measures 9 1/2” in diameter and weighs 15.5 oz. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or pronounced wear, some wear to the gold trim - there is a shallow chip or original defect to the base of the underside, barely perceptible and really very minor, but mentioned in the interest of full disclosure. In addition, there is pinhead sized dimple outlet in the porcelain, original to the making of the piece, again, very minor (see last close-up photo). This plate displays very well and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of Nippon porcelain….striking hand painted flowers!
