Product code: Outlet Navajo Nakai 1960s Belt Buckle with Turquoise Inlay

outlet Exquisite 1960s Nakai golden bronze belt buckle with turquoise inlay. Nakai is a Native American name, given by the Navajo in the 1600s to the Conquistadors, meaning "unknown ones." The motif -- the disconso, commemorates the New Mexico territorial silversmith in Navajo symbology. This beautiful handmade buckle uses "raindrop" dots of inlaid American turquoise. The Nakai stamp guarantees its Native American authenticity. It was purchased by my husband when he was a graduate student in New Mexico in the late 1960s. It measures 3" x 2-1/4", can accommodate up to a 1.75" belt and is in excellent condition.
