London: Bemrose and Sons. Second edition, ca. 1872. Hardcover quarto, 11 x 9 inches. 36pp + 13 plates (3 double-plate) + 8p ads at rear. Richly illustrated with lush color plates and numerous in-text engravings. Red cloth beveled boards with gilt stamped spine and title vignette. Good condition with rubbing to edges and soft mottling to cloth. Water damage toward the upper edge of the rear cover and endpapers, but the printed contents are fortunately unaffected and are generally quite bright and clean with minor age toning. Inconspicuous repair to plate ix, plates otherwise bold and crisp with occasional offsetting. A very handsome and uncommon book. outlet
