The sunrise shells are found off the shores or deep oceans of Kauai & can only be found in the Hawaiian islands. Very rare and special shell that is a girls must have.

The ring is a 16 gauge Sterling silver or 14k gold fill wire that has been hammered and made into a double band ring. The shell has been glued with jewelers glue so that it will not come apart.

The Sunrise Shell is prized for its rarity. It is found only in the Hawaiian Islands and rarely found on the beach. Most of them are found by divers, deep in the ocean. My Sunrise Shells are found by a family friend. Our Sunrise Shell creations are a true LABOR OF LOVE. From my friends diving to extreme depths to unearth these beauties beneath layers of sand, to the labor-intensive processing of the shell (to remove any natural calcification of the shell), to the final design and creation of a beautiful one of a kind piece of heirloom Sunrise Shell jewelry. Sunrise shells are shells from a type of small scallop native to the Hawaiian Islands. The scallop lives in very deep waters (approximately 300–600 ft.) surrounding the islands. When the scallops die, the shells are discarded. Over time, storm currents mix the shells with sand and bring them closer to shore. This is how the shells are eventually found on the beach. If you go looking for a shell, you'll have the best chance of finding one after a big storm, when storm currents have brought a lot of sand up onto the shore from deeper waters.
Sunrise shells were traditionally very sacred to the ancient Hawaiian people. They are extremely rare and, for those lucky enough to come across one on the beach, they are typically found at sunrise. Hence, the name "sunrise shell".
