These have an excellent embossed stamping. It has crisp details. Later versions have a softer and less detailed stamping making this an earlier one..

These are some of the nicest examples of stamped or embossed tin work from the mid 1800s. The stamping details are just about as good as it gets for tinware, showing good craftsmanship. The patina on this one is outstanding. No rust. Uses older style solder.

I have never seen any stamped manufacturer info on these but the oriental depictions leave little doubt this is a tea tin or tin holder. A outlet letter T on a bundle is the best hint the T is for tea or possibly stands for Tetley as in Tetley Tea.

There is no solder separations. One small dent/push in on the body and on the lid. It is a thicker metal and not flimsy thin.

The lid comes off easily as it should and is not stuck.

Measures almost 7 1/2" high and 4 3/8" across.
