Artifact Analysis:
The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol, depicting the snake eating its own tale. It has shown up in myths from ancient Egypt and Greece; it has been connected to the Aztec God Quetzalcoatl and the Norse serpent Jörmungandr. To every culture, it means something slightly different.

To the people of the Landus Fantasticus, the Ouroboros is a special symbol indeed. To them, it is a positive representative of a cycle which begins anew as soon as it ends. Like the Phoenix, the Ouroboros is thus a symbol of hope; although life changes, there are new beginnings and new opportunities.

This necklace can be worn two ways: over the head as a double stranded necklace (approximately 38 inches long, seen in the last 3 pictures), or as a four-stranded necklace with the toggle clasp in the front (approximately 19 inches long, seen in the first 7 pictures). When worn with the toggle outlet clasp in the front, it reminds me of an Ouroboros—and that is why I have chosen to name this style after this symbol of hope.

This necklace is quite striking, both when worn as a long necklace and as an Ouroborus choker. It is made in the elegant shades of falling leaves--gold and brass, brown and yellow, orange-tinted tan mixed with hints of green. The Autumn-theme is even more fitting for this necklace, considering the Ouroboros' symbolism of change and rebirth--just like the change of the seasons. In addition to simply being a beautiful piece of jewelry, perhaps it can serve as a hopeful reminder that every change is a new beginning.
