Lovely Beswick "Sundial" biscuit barrel/tea caddy. The top is made to look like a sundial and the sides are impressed with the design of a stone garden wall. The pretty pink rose bush on either side is dimensional and the cheery flowers and grass are hand painted.
The bottom is marked "Registration applied for "Sundial" as purchased by H.M. Queen Mary" and is impressed with the number "536". Made in England in the 1930's.
The hexagonal biscuit caddy measures about 6.5 inches to the top of the sundial knob on the lid and 5.5 inches at the widest part.
There are few little outlet imperfections, but they don't detract from the charm of this piece. There are a couple tiny, "fleabite" chips on the lid as well as tiny glaze skips/imperfections in the glaze from when it was made (see last pictures). The glaze has some crazing in it. There is a little bit of paint wear on the orange flowers.
