Antique Egyptian outlet Revival Pressed Tin & Celluloid Belt Buckle Half - Cleopatra Painted Tin Cameo
An interesting vintage belt buckle piece dating to the 1930's. This is one single half of a belt buckle with an Egyptian Revival style theme. The buckle consists of a raised painted tin medallion that is tacked to a taupe color celluloid backing with the buckle on the side.
The tin portion is a cameo style profile image of what appears to be Cleopatra. It is an Egyptian woman facing to the left, wearing a vulture headdress...which is a common depiction of Cleopatra.
Unfortunately, this is only a single half - what the other portion of the buckle would have looked like is unknown.
The buckle half measures 2.25" in width and 2.5" in height. The buckle is still in good overall condition, but does show some light outlet wear giving it great vintage character. The tin portion featuring Cleopatra has some general paint wear and light chipping throughout (see photos). The celluloid backing is free of any chips or cracks, but does have a slight scratch to the buckle hook.
A scarce vintage Egyptian Revival piece that would be beautiful if repurposed for wear/use today.
