FABULOUS VINTAGE c1960's MELE STYLE JEWELRY BOX
This mid-century style jewelry box is perfect for everyone on your gift list; or you might want to keep it for yourself!

BIG MEASURES 12.5"W X 8"D X 2.25"H

OUTSIDE - The outside is covered in a cream-colored vinyl. The top has a RARE design feature with a diamond-shaped design stamped into the actual vinyl. There is a small, gold painted emblem in the center of each diamond. This RARE, more "modern" design lends itself to every decor. (Most Mele style jewelry boxes from that era, used fancy, scrolled designs & flowers on the top).

Decorative plastic handle on the front to lift the lid & 2 brass hinges in the back. Bottom underneath is covered in green velvet. There are no stamps or labels on this jewelry box, but the design resembles those made by "Mele", circa 1960's.

INSIDE - The top lifts to the inside, lined with blue velvet. The lid underneath has 8 plastic hooks at the top for hanging jewelry. Below that is another RARE design feature with a wide plastic slot to hold the ends of the jewelry. (Most were made with a gathered, satin fabric "apron" sewn at the bottom to secure the ends of the jewelry).

Bottom tier has 7 wide slots that vary in depth. Inside measurements - 11"W x 7"D x 1"H, tall enough to store watches, bracelets & other taller items.

GREAT VINTAGE CONDITION - this 60+ year old, vintage jewelry box was kept beautifully. The outside vinyl is outlet in great condition, no marks, rips or tears. The gold emblems have no chipped or missing paint. Front handle shows minimal wear. Brass hinges show some aged patina, as expected in a piece of this age. Minimal signs of wear around the edges of the green velvet on the bottom underneath.

Inside - Under the lid, the hooks & wide, lower slot are in excellent condition. The blue velvet has no rips, tears or marks. There are some slight indentations on the thick pile, blue velvet lid where previous jewelry was stored. Each piece carries some trace of those who have loved and enjoyed them in the past. I try to be very transparent with my descriptions. Please look at pictures closely as they are part of the description.
