Vintage Asian Tankei Stone Inkstone a Carved Dragon Clouds Sculpture Calligraphy Tool w Wooden Presentation Box Suzuri Grinding Ink Stone outlet

This is a beautiful Asian piece that I am just now learning about.

The wooden box and stone I believe is from Japan (or China?) and it is meant to be a calligraphy tool. I think that the ink went into the center of the stone.

Bear with me as I am just learning about these calligraphy pieces. Please don't hesitate if you'd like to share information on this item with me.

The box is about 7“ x 5 1/4“ and the stone fits perfectly inside. The stone is approximately 6“ x 4 1/4“, and it is approximately 3/4” thick.

What drew me to this beautiful piece was the intricate beautiful handcarved dragon, not to mention the lovely dark mahogany stained wooden box.

In very good preowned vintage condition, this is functional and beautiful and would be a great addition to any collection of Asian calligraphy tools.
