A brilliant set based on the original illustrations of W.W Denslow in the first editions of Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" printed in 1900. Although definitely not the Disney depictions if you are familiar with the books these will be instantly recognizable. Indeed even a quick Google of Denslow's illustrations you can see it is a remarkably faithful representation of the author and original illustrators vision for the characters.

You can choose to have the set in two different formats
1/ Adversarial (as shown): Dorothy V the Wicked Witch outlet of the West
2/ Reversal : Dorothy V Dorothy

The set is Made to order and takes around 4 weeks from casting to completion. it can be a wee bit swifter depending on timing and workload. Creation times can get longer in the busy season especially mid September on if you have a time crunch or a specific date just message and i can give you solid confirmation.

This listing includes All 32 pieces to make a full set of chessmen. Boards are not included,

Each piece is Cold-cast by hand using Tufstone a polymer modified gypsum cement, then painted, glazed and felt bottoms attached.
The set requires a board with at least a 1 3/4 inch squares,
The King is 4 inches tall the Pawns are 2 1/2 inches

King -Cowardly Lion
Queen - Dorothy
Bishop - Scarecrow
Knight - Tinman
Castle (Rook) - Emerald City (with peeking wizard of Oz)
Pawn - Munchkin, (bowing in greeting)
King - Kalidah (Bear with the head of Tiger)
Queen - Wicked Witch of the West
Bishop - Hammerhead
Knight - Wolf
Castle (Rook) - Fighting Trees
Pawn - Flying Monkeys

I make each piece as strong as possible handled correctly they will last a lifetime but will break if dropped on a concrete floor, for instance.

The set is shipped with each piece individually bubble wrapped and laid on a bed of larger bubbles and packing peanuts.
