Conceptual Memory:

The most representative piece of popular jewelry of Salamanca is the "Charro"* button. Like all filigree jewelry, it's made from a thread (of silver or gold) that forms the frame in the shape of the flower of the piece. The spirals, made with two thinner and twisted threads, fill the structure creating the surface to which the final embellishments are applied.

The button, was used as an accessory on such garments as petticoats, doublets, britches and waistcoats, had its apogee in the 18th century. There is an extensive typology of these buttons.

Although the old models of button were a great size, at present, the tastes and the fashion opt for smaller models. They're used as a model in the design of personal jewels such as twins, rings, earrings, bracelets, etc.

* "Charro" is a colloquial term that refers to a person from Salamanca.
