Early XIX C. *Artist: Jean Duplessis Bertaux- (FRENCH) *Also known as'Callot of our days' from the miniature scale on which he worked. outlet *Time period-1747/50-1818/20) * A draughtsman, engraver (mainly of book illustrations); learned his trade from Vien (drawing) and Le Bas (engraving). *Professor of drawing at the École Militaire from 1770. *Title: Pauvers a lientree des cuileries.("Paving stones at the entrance to the Cuileries") *Titled and Signed in plate: J. D. Bertaux. Md. d'Estampes. *Dimensions: Sheet 5 1/2" x 6 1/4". *Date: Early XIX C. *Materials/ Techniques: hand colored etching on laid paper. *Provenance:The Estate of Jeanne Hughes-my grandmother, who was an avid collector of vintage antiques and taught public elementary school teacher for 30+ years. *Condition: tanned image, remnants of glue recto.
