Wow! STUFF Magazine #17 1979 Graphic Design Illustration Art Post Punk outlet Advertising Los Angeles 70S 80s Fashion Style Punk New Wave Graphics
RARE! STUFF was the follow-up publishing project for Steve Samiof who published the legendary punk magazine SLASH. Stuff was a large format 11"x17" magazine published between 1979-1985 that was primarily highly stylized advertising steeped in a very new wave aesthetic. Later issues added more editorial from people like Richard Meltzer, Tom “Mr. Los Angeles” Nolan, Claude "Kickboy Face" Bessy of Slash Magazine, and others. STUFF is a remarkable post-punk New Wave time capsule of design, graphics and advertising from the heyday of Melrose Avenue hipness and the fabulous boutiques and artists of the era. A magical place where disco ended and New Wave began.
This great issue is alternately known as 'Big Stuff" or #17. Includes ads for legendary spots like the Soap Plant, LA Eyeworks, Heaven and includes a full page ad for Pee Wee Herman, full page Peter Sato illustration and much more . A wonderful relic from the vibrant time period in LA.
