A charming antique children's book entitled, 'ABC and the Children of Many Nations' sayings by Carolyn S. Hodgman, and published in 1916 by Stecher Lithography, in Rochester, New York. The delightful colored illustrations were drawn by artist Will F. Stecher (1864 - 1940), who lived in Massachusetts. He is well known for beautiful landscapes, and illustrating children's books.

Each letter of the alphabet features a child dressed in costume of the highlighted country, along with a little poem. An example; A 'Congress of Children, We show to you here, American first, For our Country is dear', the child is dressed like a cowboy riding a toy wooden rocking horse.

This first edition antique book outlet has soft covers with a brightly colored lithograph on the front of a little boy and his infant sibling playing with alphabet wooden blocks. The pages are bound with staples. The overall condition is good for the age, with minor cover wear and some creases, and measures; 7 3/4" x 6 3/4".

A nice antique children's book with wonderful illustrations.
