Outlet Vintage FRENCH Leaping Deer or Gazelle BOOKENDS

This excellent pair of bookends are of French origin, late Art Deco probably from the 1940's. The polished marble bases are black with attractive veining in browns and creams. The marble is in remarkably good condition with no cracks, breakage or chips. The gazelle or deer figurines are well gilded smelter castings and also in good condition, again no damage. The deer are seen to be jumping from a grassy mound, which is "cold-painted" in green. The figures are securely attached to the bases, which are covered underneath with the original textured paper that shows some wear.

These bookends are ready to hold your collection of favourite books and would be at home in both period and modern décor. They would of course make a unique gift.
