This is a vintage Bali sterling bangle with lots of wonderful granulation work. This is not a cast or mass-produced piece: The base was handmade of sterling silver, then many tiny bits of sterling wire were heated with a torch on a sloping charcoal or other block, so that when they melted and drew up into a ball they would roll off into a container of water to quickly cool, retaining their spherical shape. Then, they were sieved and sorted into piles of one size. After that, they were skillfully arranged into the patterns you see here, and "group soldered" onto the piece: yes, they were each hand applied!! Somewhere along in there, the 18K gold shapes were dapped and soldered on. Then antiquing and polishing...A major piece of artisanal art and labor! I think this type is already not being made anymore.
This is in almost perfect condition. I do find one of the gold pieces has a tiny dent; but no wear or abrasion - this is a piece of 28K and not plating, it is durable!
The back of this bracelet has a lot of give; it is not stiff but outlet rather springy, and so the bracelet can easily be adjusted up or down in size. I have an 8" (at least) wrist and it is roomy on me, as-is. For someone small, you could even carefully form this into a "bypass" shape, by lifting one end and pressing the other end down, vertically, to ride the arm more tightly.
Please see all pics for details, and ask me any questions. Thanks for looking! God keep you Well, Betsy
