This grande dame has a good bit of foxing on the tissue covering the first illustration and the inside of the front cover, however most of the plates are in perfect condition.
Designed to assist the English gardener in having a colorful (colourful) garden year round, the book is divided into season, with each section written by a different gardener.

Margaret Waterfield was a British artist who was born in 1863. Margaret Waterfield's first outlet artwork to be offered at auction was Magnolia Conspicua - The Garden House at Saltwell at The Canterbury Auction Galleries in 2016 The artist died in 1953.
The bookplate inside the front cover indicates this book is from the library of John J. Raskob. John Jakob Raskob, was a financial executive and businessman for DuPont and General Motors, and the builder of the Empire State Building. He was chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1928 to 1932 and a key supporter of Alfred E. Smith's candidacy for President of the United States.
