Red-Gold Rainbow-Style

Rainbow Style scarves feature one colour blending into the next. They may encompas all the colours of an entire rainbow or focus just one one colour blending into the next.

Description

This is a regular size (114x28cm) ponge 5 (fine, lightweight) silk scarf. This is the smallest size that I make.
In this scarf pink-red blends into a vivid scarlet and on to orange and gold. To enable such smooth mixing and blending of one colour to the next I use a paintbrush to 'massage' the colours together.
Rainbow style scarves are saturated in dye to create such wonderful, intense colours.

How I make my Rainbow-Style Scarves

I paint my scarves using dyes which are fixed by steaming. These give particularly vivid colours.
Silk is a wonderful medium. The moment the dye touches the fabric it is drawn into the threads and begins to spread. As more colours are added they flow and mingle with each other.
I stretch the silk for my Rainbow Style scarves and lay it horizontally on a waterproof surface, so that the silk is touching the surface. Then I brush on the colours and 'massage' them together to create a smooth transition from one colour to the next.

Powerful as well as Beautiful - Spiritual Energy and Consciousness

I meditate before beginning to paint all my scarves and play soulful music while I'm working on them. I treat the painting as a real form of meditation.
Throughout this painting I try not to use my mind in a critical way, I keep my mind quiet and just stay in a meditative mood. I feel that when I am making these scarves I really can let the meditative flow guide me enabling me to impart a strong spiritual consciousness into my painting.

Wellbeing - Courage, Confidence, Positive Attitude and Inner Peace

Colours are well-known for the positive energy they impart to outlet both wearer and observer alike, and my scarves are always colourful. But in addition to being uniquely colourful and beautiful accessories, each one a unique hand-painted work of art, my silk products are more than that. Because I create them as a form of meditation, they carry a peaceful and positive energy and spiritual consciousness which gives them the capacity, a bit like crystals, to aid wellbeing, reducing stress and bringing inner peace, encouraging confidence and a positive, joyful and courageous attitude to life, which has the effect of lifting the spirits and making you smile.

Just hold one of my scarves close to your heart. Close your eyes and feel the peace.
