This design came about as a special request for a memorial bench at an arboretum. This Art Tile can be hung on the wall or placed in an easel. (Easels available on this site.)

PROCESS: I start each original tile design by carefully carving a die from carbon steel. Many hours later, the carving of the die is completed. Next, pure copper outlet sheet is pressed into the die with the aid of an electric hydraulic press, which I fabricated myself. It takes many tons of force to achieve the details reflected in my tiles. After the tile is shaped and the design is captured, a patina is applied and then hand polished to bring out the rich beauty and personality of each copper tile. Next, a quality sealer is applied. Finally, each tile is inspected and wrapped, ready to be shipped. I hope you enjoy your tiles as much as I have in creating them.

Because copper is a valuable metal, I recycle or reuse all of the scrap. My tiles have a high recycled copper content.
