Outlet Anchovies, Original Fine Art Etching, Orange version

I sketched these bait fish while vacationing on Catalina Island in California. I had wanted to draw Catalina's spectacular flying fish, but the local museum did not have them on display that month. So while anchovies were a humble second choice, I thought they made a fine subject after all.

For curious minds, this piece is made by inking the copper plate the normal intaglio way, then rolling the warm olive-orange 'viscosity' layer on top in the relief manner, wiping outlet it off where I want the white highlights, and running through the press. So this combines intaglio and monotype techniques and is actually a 'monoprint'.....meaning there is a repeating element with hand work.
