This opal was mined in the opal capital of the world Coober Pedy S, Australia.

This 1.34 ct solid Australian White opal was mined from the Donna's Rush opal field Coober pedy. The opal has a unique red / green pattern. Shows best in sun light, the colours are outlet more subdued in lesser light conditions. The pendant is complemented with a quality 92.5% sterling silver 18" curb chain stamped 925 and a weight of 1.90 grams +/- .005. One of a kind solid natural Opal. Best in Movement to show the colour play. The stone has been hand picked, crafted and polished in the UK by myself and set in a sterling silver pendant setting.

Did You Know:

Donna's Rush precious opal field was found in South Australia about 40 Kilometers north of Coober Pedy on the 24th August 2011.

Coober Pedy is a town in northern South Australia with a population of 3,500. The town is Known as the opal capital of the world because of the Quality of precious opal that is mined there. Opal was first found in Coober Pedy on the 1st February 1915 and since then has been supplying the world with the majority of gem quality opal.

Faced with seasonal dust storms and temperature's that reach above 110 degree's about half the population that live in Coober Pedy live underground.

Beware Fakes & Synthetics

New synthetic opals are being created every year and manufacturers are getting better at replicating natural opal.
A synthetic opal is a man-made opal made in a laboratory.
Synthetic opal generally falls into three categories. Glass imitations, plastic imitations or resin & silica mixture imitations.
There are many reputable sellers out there clearly stating that their opal is synthetic, but there are some who try and pass it off as the real thing.
When you buy a piece of opal jewellery I advise having it authenticated by a jeweller or a professional appraisal by a gemologist.

This opal is a solid, natural, untreated stone.
