Rare item! Booze pourer from the bar of one of Holland-Afrika Cruise Lines ships. It bears the logo and name of the line, with 'VNS' above the logo.
VNS stands for 'Vereenigde Nederlandsche Scheepvaartmaatschappij' or United Netherlands Navigation Co. The company had two lines that worked Africa, one that ran the east coast and the other that ran the west. These two outlet lines merged to become one with the company in 1932. They also had the Holland-Australia line.
In 1970 the last ship for the Holland-Afrika Lijn sailed, and this part of the company was dropped to become part of the Koninklijke Nedlloyd line.
Items or ship memorabilia for the Holland-Afrika Lijn are pretty rare.
This pourer is missing the cork, but that is an easy replacement. It is 6" long and the top part is 1 3/4" in diameter. Made in England, most likely steel, perhaps nickel steel. In decent used vintage condition.
