The key to a really good story is characters with depth, complexity, and quirks! Before any animator or illustrator can begin a project, they think long and hard not only about how the character will look but, what are their strengths, fears, flaws, dreams, what makes them happy, what motivates them to love. They keep asking why until there are no more questions, and a character comes to life. As a full-time freelance illustrator, my favorite part of the story process is receiving character descriptions from publishers and studios and bringing them to life on the page. I find the most authentic character inspiration comes from hilarious stories, heartfelt memories, and vivid descriptions told by the people who love them.
My process does not involve copying a photograph, but using multiple resources to build an original representation of the subjects in my personal, illustrated style.

•How it works*

☛ After purchasing this listing simply message me with the email address you would like to use to communicate along with your transaction ID.
☛ From there, we will begin brainstorming about the characters and story. I need you to paint a picture of the character in your story using photos (a mix of 3-10 candid/ staged photos will do the trick!) Then, I would like to know about personality, quirks, hobbies, passions, disposition and short funny stories if applicable; Basically, anything you think is important to convey the identity of this character.
☛Next, what story would you like to tell? What is the mood? Is this a specific memory? How are they posed? What are your characters doing and why? Is there a motif? Feel free to get creative with this! Like I mentioned before, Im not in the spirit of copying photographs, so dream big! The possibilities are endless! Use dreams and favorite hobbies to have fun with costume ideas and themes. Every element of this image can be real or imagined!

Once we hash out all the details, I'll get started on illustrating outlet your image! You will receive a sketch first, at which point we can do one round of revisions if applicable, then move to color. After everything has been approved, I will send you the high-res, digital file with which you can use to order prints, framed images, Christmas cards, invitations, stationery, personalized items, etc.

Shipping of a hard copy will be 5-7 business days after approval of final art. I only offer 11x14" and 5x7 print sizes at the moment. If you would like a custom size or a famed option, I recommend a site like Framebridge.com where you can upload the digital file I send you and you can customize your finishing options.

If you have a specific date in mind, feel free to message me before purchase to check future or current availability. The entire process from order to final can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks not including shipping if you purchase a hard copy. I cannot always guarantee a finished project before 6 weeks due to the nature of my freelance schedule. If your gift is time sensitive, definitely reach out before ordering if you need it sooner. There is always a chance my schedule isn't fully booked!
