A spectacular and rare antique fine Original Engraving

200 years old !!!

Map of WEST - CHEAP as it appeared in the year 1585,

From a Drawing at that period by R. TRESWELL

engraved by BARTHOLOMEW HOWLETT 1767 - 1827,

London, Published 1st May, 1814, by the Robert Wilkinson, N'.58, Cornhill

depicting ancient Church of St. Michael in the Querne, Little Conduit & Sr. Paul Gate at the East End and North East.

Treswell, Ralph (c.1540–1616/17), one of the FINEST Elizabethian surveyors and mapmakers, painter–stainer and surveyo

Signed in the lower left corner: HOWLETT, Scuplt - BARTHOLOMEW HOWLETT ( 1767 - 1827 ), was a English Draughtsman and engraver.

The inscription below the engraving reads:

The Principal Objects are the CHURCH of St. MICHAEL in the QUERNE, the LITTLE CONDUIT, and S. PAUL's GATE , situated at the East End, and North East.

Corner of Paternoster Row. - Those Structures, destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, have not been rebuilt, but their Sites occupied by the Public Streets.

(The medieval church St Michael Le Querne was destroyed by the Great Fire in 1666, and not rebuilt).

Measurements approximately: 19 3/4" x 13 5/8" ( 50cm 34.5cm )

Condition report: The sheet with engraving has an original bend in the center with the originally attached line of the paper along the bend, about 5cm wide, probably for attachment or for more comfortable holding that to prevent original sheet from any damage; pic.11, 12; there are flow signs along the lower corners, yellowing and some foxing, and some wear to the all edges; fortunately the image with inscription is undamaged.

There are yellowish signs and foxing on the back.

Overall, this antique engraving is 200 years old !!! and is in really very safe condition for the edge with fine original details with no holes or lost details.
