The hard-to-find piece with rich coloured fruits of a lush ripe harvest is cool retro vintage J & G Meakin Studio line piece. It's a gorgeous platter with lugged handle crafted of English ironstone: the base is a crisp white with ripe oranges, fresh lemons and green olive coloured leaves at it's centre.

The legendary pottery was set up in 1851 by brothers James and George Meakin (kin of fellow potter Alfred Meakin) who grew to become one of the largest exporters of ironstone and earthenware in the late 19th century.
Many think the company came into its own was in the 1950s and 1960s with its bright, geometric outlet and stylized designs.
