Aset (better known by the Greeks as "Isis"*) is a powerful goddess- elegant and clever, divine sorceress, archetypal mother goddess, and sister-wife to Wesir/Osiris, king of the dead. Aset is mother of Heru-sa-Aset/Horus (the Child) and is integral in the myths preceding the Contendings of Heru-sa-Aset and Set.

While Aset as mother and wife are important, for this artwork, I wanted to depict Aset in her aspect of mistress of magic, independent and outlet powerful, in her own right. In myth, Aset is the only Netjeru clever enough to discover (via feats of magic) the secret name of Ra. I always picture her clothed in blue, illuminated by the rays of endless daylight. She is accompanied by silver and gold snakes, and a scorpion (suggestive of her aspect Aset-Serket, scorpion-goddess of the desert.)

*Isis seems to be inspired by several Kemetic goddesses, including Bast and Hethert, but primarily Aset. Aset and Isis share the divine "mother of Heru-sa-Aset/Horus" mythology.)

This original piece is created on marker paper with copic markers, ink, and white gel pen. It's 8.5 x 11 inches.

EVERYONE: All my prints come with a small gift (Usually a print, usually, heh, shiny...) as a thank you for ordering. My mythological work is created with devotion in mind and the money I make here usually goes straight back into supplies. I started this several years ago because there were so many great Names that had no readily available iconography and wanted to fill that void with artwork. So, here we are. I also love when people send me pictures of wherever my art ends up, be it a wall or an altar.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I'm sending prints directly from the printer nowadays but they do not offer me international shipping. Therefore, I need to order the prints to me, then dispatch them to you. This adds a few more days to process your order (Which I apologize for, but it's worth it because they ship in super sturdy packaging and you're guaranteed to get a super fresh-from-the-press print.
