The Poetical Works of Geoffrey Chaucer by Thomas Wright, Esq. Published by John Wurtele Lovell, NY. Copyright 1880. Book includes Canterbury Tales, The Cuckow and Nightingale, The Assembly of Foules, Introduction, and Minor Poems. Book includes several black and white full page illustrations throughout. Brown cloth cover with red undertones is heavily decorated with embossed black floral decoration and bright gilt title block. There is a dark brown soil spot along the upper cover edge (center) and a light white spot along the lower edge of the cover (center). Spine has cloth discoloration and bright gilt with light shelf-wear on the lower spine. The back cover is brown with a discoloration streak along the bottom. Eps are dark brown and clean. Penciled signature on plain pre-title page. Black and white illustration of "A Knight's Tale" on frontispiece. Tissue is present with large foxing spots. Foxing spots on tissue lightly stained the title page. Title pages has red decorative border that is extended throughout the book. Interior pages are soft, white and well intact with gilt edges on three sides. 631 pages, 7 1/2 x 5 1/8"

Dark olive green cloth cover with darkened purple floral decoration and gilt center emblem. Gilt on the spine is faded / darkened. Light shelf-wear on the lower spine. Back cover is green and very good. Eps are white with private collection sticker on right eps. Illustration of the "Vision" on frontispiece is loose with connected tissue. Title page is loose with mild tanning. Original placeholder is loose and enclosed. Pages are connected at "Introduction". Interior pages are crisp, white and intact (after title page) throughout. Interior pages have darkened gilt on three sides. 352 pages, 7 1/2 x 5 1/4"

Black and white illustration on frontispiece. Interior pages are stiff, white and well intact with several full page black and white illustrations throughout. Heavy foxing on the outer edge of all interior pages. Pg 63-66 lower right corner bent upward.
