An exceptional unique piece, this African Tikar mask was used during ritual ceremonies. This tribal mask comes from the Tikar ethnic group, established in central Cameroon.
Two birds worked with bronze thread are visible on the forehead as well as geometric scarifications on the top and bottom of the mask. The eyes and lips are also decorated with bronze thread. The top of the skull and eyebrows are decorated with leather. It was carved by hand. Dark patina.
It measures 79 cm high, 20.5 cm wide and 13 cm deep with its base. It measures 40 cm in height and 21.5 cm in width without its base.
31 x 8 x 5 inches.

This mask was collected in Senegal and dates approximately from the mid-twentieth century.
