Product code: Bitter Melon Plant, Rare 1777 outlet Folio-Size Engraving by Miller, Original Antique Botanical Print

Momordica (Momordica Charantia/Male Balsam Apple/Bitter Melon). Large folio-size original antique engraving from John outlet Miller's “An Illustration of the Sexual System of Linnaeus” published in London, 1777. It is a rare 18th Century engraving on laid paper (with Whatman watermark) and fine original hand color. This is one of the earlier prints to show the details of the plant's anatomy.

It is an original hand-colored antique print, not a modern reproduction. The original informational text sheet, which identifies the different details of the plant in German and English, is included with purchase.

Dimensions:
Approx. 14" x 20-1/2" (sheet size)

Condition:
Very good. Clean with attractive original hand color. The yellow flower in the last photo is a typical Sowerby plate and was included in the photo to demonstrate the larger size of this folio plate

It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve and will ship within a rigid mailer for protection.
