This abstract sculpture is a drawing on air. Not black ink on paper, but metal seemingly floating on air. Just a minimalist number of uninhibited strokes. And even though this contemporary metal sculpture has some detailed features, the metal used is not delicate. It is 1/4” solid steel and it will last lifetimes. Your grandchildren will have this on their desk or table or shelf at college.

It's part of the body of work I call #lyricalsteel. Each modern sculpture is signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity tied to a piece of US currency to guarantee authenticity.

The pieces are drawn very spontaneously, sometimes in as little as a second. Hundreds of variations are sketched, but only one is kept. The result is a totally unplanned figure, drawn with a quick, single motion (sometimes two or three) that comes from the unconscious. This means I create these in the same way that you the observer first see them...with an immediate sense of connection...or not. Hopefully you have have found a connection to this piece.

This piece is #5 in a limited edition of 99. Each piece in the edition is individually cut and finished. The shape will be identical for each piece in the edition, but the finishing of the metal and variation in the wood means each one is a little different. Also, the editions are not mass produced, but outlet instead each unit is only produced once the prior one is sold. Each time a piece in an edition is sold, the price of the next piece increases. This allows me to introduce new pieces at a very affordable price point but still justify the effort to create and produce the piece in the long run.
