An miniature antiquarian French book entitled, 'Mes Prisons' by Silvio Pellico (1789 – 1854), published in 1890 by Marpon et E. Flammarion, Paris. This antique book features many black and white outlet illustrations by artist, Tony Johannot. Silvio Pellico was an 'Italian writer, poet, dramatist, and patriot active in the Italian unification'. His activism led him to be arrested on the charge of carbonarism and was imprisoned for fifteen years. 'Mes Prisons' is his memoir of that experience.
The antique miniature book is covered in mottled leather covers with beautiful marbleized papers on the inside covers and fly page. The lettering on the spine is gold gilt. The overall condition is good and measures; approximately 2 1/4" x 3 ".
A nice copy of an antiquarian book.
