This is an authentic and original illustration titled, “Abstract Spring Flora and Fauna.” You are viewing an abstract complete colorful and textured painting of local landscape in Bethesda, Maryland. The artist (myself) recently went on an outdoor neighborhood excursion and discovered beautiful pink tree branches hovering over a healthy green lawn on local property. The day I photographed the scene was clear and sunny welcoming the spring for all the residents in the community. When initially studying the view, I couldn't help but to acknowledge the varied natural earthen features and elements within. With intent to recreate the subject in an abstract form, I decided to paint several components different than how it was seen in “real time.” This personal decision was to help promote a more educational review of my subject, providing an opportunity for the viewer a chance to identify the abstract elements. Obviously the wispy tree branches had blossoming pink petals bunched and scattered along the branches. The lawn was very healthy with green lush grasses, turf and terrain. The middle of the multi toned green grass had raised shelving stone ground level ultimately providing a pleasant view of the natural landscape design. There were natural cracks and crevasses on the interior of this stone with shade noticeably seen projecting from the towering tree branches and springtime blooms. In the background there is a residential pathway backed by more green lawn and the blue sky. The three obvious abstract elements lower level are one dominant large tan leaf petal with speckled pink and white colors on the center representing the special delicate floral pollen on the interior. Underneath you will notice a multi tuned green, yellow and golden toned leaf with four projecting leaves. To the bottom left there is black painted in between the golden textured painted representing the raised stone ground level. The black was painted to enhance the bold shading seen in between the stone. Phase one was the initial graphite sketch. On quality mixed media and graphite, I sketched the large abstract flora leaf first and foremost prior to the other detailed features. I then proceeded to sketch the raised stone and paved pathway to help visually guide my attention sketching the landscape details on the interior. If your visiting this site for the first time, you will notice much of my work is in a series, including other abstracts, Flora and Fauna, architectural
Design, landscape, Mother Nature, scenic viewer and more. Occasionally my work appears heavier and thicker in texture. Depending on the subject, my perspective and preference to recreate illustrative art. The scattered wispy branches hovering over the grass turf and raised ground level stone, appeared to have more pink petals and blooms on some and others completely without. Phase two was the application of colored pencil. With green, brown, tan, pink, white, black, yellow, silver, gold, bronze, and blue, I colored in over outlet phase one. This transition always helps visually guide the separation of the distinguished features with intent to transform the illustration into a beautiful complete painting. Phase three was the application of acrylic paint. With the same colors used as in phase two, and fine paint brushes, I painted over phase two. I applied thicker amounts of paint on the majority of the painting leaving the background sky line and several elements such as an occasional leaf, or branch with modest amounts of paint. If you carefully study the painting, you will notice the sheen of some of the paint intentionally used in areas to enhance the overall scene. You will see iridescent sheen in silver, gold, bronze and pearl. Upon completion I sprayed it with clear acrylic sealant to prevent any damage or “bleeding of the colors.” The authentic and original illustration titled, “Abstract Spring Flora and Fauna,” is available for purchase in print. This would make for an ideal housewarming gift or simply be a nice addition to an existing collection. Please enjoy! Jessica Ahmadi
