Fabulous Antique Fish Serving Set. Sterling silver bands connect the handles to an electroplated silver blade on the 12" knife and tines of the 9¼" fork. The handles are "French Ivory" which is not ivory at all but, rather, celluloid (early plastic outlet made from camphor and nitrocellulose), an ivory substitute that was in great demand at the time. The set was made in the very early part of the 20th Century in Sheffield, England. The date year on the silver bands is 1907. The cutouts and engraving on each piece indicates the high quality of the set. Couple that with the fantastic condition of this fish service to know this is something special.
