Lovely Antique French Wood Pencil Case, Push Button Bird Pen Box, French Plumier, Push Button outlet Opener, 1900s
I couldn't resist this when I saw it at a professional brocante in SW France. A fabulous rare antique French wooden pencil case (plumier) with push button opener and piano hinged lid which on opening reveals its three compartments. Dates from the early 1900s. The wooden box has a black lacquered body and the lid features the most heavenly sweet chromolithographic image of a row of birds sitting on a branch. They are all so colorful with the most endearing faces. The interior has 3 sections for organizing pens, pencils, eraser, paper clips and other miscellaneous stationery. The box has a metal push button latch which closes securely. Easy to open and close. A good strong and very tactile pencil case and very collectible. The perfect gift for a writer, calligrapher or collector.

CONDITION
It is in a lovely antique condition, lots of signs of use with wear to the top edges. Beautiful smooth patina. A little bit of damage on the very top surface. Some wear to the varnished wood as well all adding to its antique charm. Please review photos.
