1991 was the 50th anniversary of South outlet Dakota's famous landmark, and to celebrate, the U.S. Mint at San Francisco struck this Proof Silver Dollar. It shows a view of Mt. Rushmore designed by Gutsom Borglum. This special proof had an incredibly low mintage of only 738,419, and it really slipped under the collecting-world radar. Today, they are very tough to find. It also displays the coveted "S" mintmark for San Francisco.
