Product code: Short-finned Pilot Whale outlet in Rescued Hardwood #3
The short-finned pilot whale is the warm-water cousin of the virtually identical long-finned pilot whale. Both are deep divers and prey mainly on squid. They may be spotted in temperate waters around the world, excepting the Mediterranean.
My version of this bluff blackfish was carved from recycled hardwood, stained, painted with acrylics, then protected by clear spray. It measures about 9-3/4" long and 7-1/2" high by outlet 3-1/4" wide at the flukes. Mounted to a poplar base, it is dated and initialed by myself.
Featuring a good stout body, blunt melon, and muted color patterns, this is a faithful recreation of a very handsome creature.
