Product code: Hand painted and shibori outlet dyed silk jacquard scarf
This is a hand painted and shibori wrapped and dyed silk jacquard scarf. I buy the fabric white and start with an undercoat of 8 to 10 color gradations. Once that dries, I paint another layer with a variety of colors, in this case going from red to brown to a greenish brown. On this scarf, I did a third coat of dye and watercolor effect to blend the colors. Once dry, the fabric was steamed, rinsed and dried. Lastly, I wrapped the fabric around a pole and wrapped again, tightly, with string. I dipped the pole wrapped fabric in a black dye bath, which dyed the exposed fabric. After a couple of days of drying, I again steamed, rinsed and dried the fabric, then hemmed the edges with a serger.
