Art Nouveau Childrens Book with beautiful P. Ebner outlet illustrations and German nursery rhymes

Here comes a very sweet antique German book with many beautiful illustrations by the famous Pauli Ebner (1873 – 1949), an Austrian female artist, and traditional nursery rhymes and children's songs. The book is named “Schöne deutsche Kinderlieder und Reime für Mutter und Kind” (translating into “Nice German Children's songs and rhymes for mother and child”) and was published by Theo Stroefer Kunstverlag in Nuremberg (founded 1877) and printed by F. Bruckmann A. G. in Munich. Sadly, the year of publication is not known.
On the frontispiece are scribbles from a child, and also an inscription, reading: “Dem lieben Lenchen zum Weihnachtsfest 1927 von Onkel Moritz und Tante Elena”, translating into “For the beloved Lenchen on Christmas 1927 from Uncle Moritz and Aunt Elena”.
The illustrations do rather point to an earlier date of publication, but maybe the artist never gave up the Art Nouveau style in her work, and the book was printed in the late 1920s indeed, we'll never know.

The book clearly was in the hands of children, it is stable, and all pages are present, but there are some repairs, a missing corner, and the 64 pages do not all sit well in the block, but the block of pages itself is stable inside the cardboard cover.

The great charm of this old book are undoubtedly the rich beautiful illustrations, many of them in full colour.

The antique German book measures 21 cm / 8 ¼ inches by 25,5 cm / 10 inches and outlet 1 cm / ½ inch thick.

Like many old children's songs and rhymes, these are not free of cruelty and the petty bourgeois ideas of the time, mirroring such on occasion and showing a lot of what we call backward pedagogy like many children's books of that era do.
*Nevertheless, the contents are to be seen as a historic document and we distance ourselves from any backward pedagogic ideal, shown and described in this book! This kind of thinking and pedagogics belong to the past centuries!
