Back stamp “Old Foley” / James Kent Ltd / Made in England / indicates that this set was produced in the 1990s. Sets featuring outlet other Nursery Rhyme characters were also produced.
The James Kent Company began in the late 1800s and stayed in production until the early 2000s. The Old Foley was a pottery that was part of their company.
Mr. Dumpty is in the center if the plate, on his wall. Little Boy Blue, Humpty, BoPeep and Mary and her lamb are around the rim. Bowl is the same, except no Boy Blue. The cup shows him slipping.
Part of a collection accrued after a career working in Children's Literature. The rhyme never says specifically that Humpty is an egg. The moral is probably to be careful, something broken can never be as good as new!
