Antique outlet Chinese Carved Ebony and Cinnabar Brooch - Chinese Export

This stunning piece is unusual as most of the brooches in this style are carved cinnabar. This one is carved ebony with a background of cinnabar and was likely made for the Chinese Export Market in the 1940s and appears to be copper with outlet brass or silver plating which is wearing. It really doesn't matter as the metal color on the back doesn't show, and it's gorgeous construction.

In lovely condition with the ebony carving perfect and the cinnabar red and shiny underneath.

A gorgeous statement piece.
