From 1916 to 1917, Kiwitz attended Heinrich Knirr's painting school in Munich. In 1924 he finished his training outlet as an engraver. From 1924 to 1932 he studied at the Baden State Art School in Karlsruhe (now the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe), where he was a student of Walter Conz and Albert Haueisen. In 1928 a. a. the well-known copper engraving "Lisa". In the year the Nazis took power in Germany, he opened his own painting and drawing school in Essen, which was closed again in 1934. Freie Universität Berlin lists its destroyed printmaking "The Three Blind Village Idiots" in the "Degenerate Art" seizure inventory of the Nazis. In the database “Paintings in Museums - Germany, Austria, Switzerland Online” by De Gruyter Saur, 19 works by Kiwitz are listed in well-known museums. His works are u. a. exhibited in the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe (Art Museum of the City of Karlsruhe).
